This historic garden is my favorite in the whole world... very unique, a quiet space, so special. My fondest memories of why I love DC include this garden, and I visit just to see it and be in it... the secluded spaces, the unique and old roses, the butterflies-- one of a kind, and I hope we take care of this treasure, for everyone, for ages to come!

Please reconsider removing the Enid Haupt Garden. I have enjoyed time spent in that wonderful garden reflecting on its beauty for many years. It's truly a jewel! It provides a spectacular complement to the architecture of he Smithsonian .Castle

this is one of the few places on the mall where one can sit and have a bit of peace, please don't destroy this beloved sanctuary. as others have said, it would detract from the surrounding architecture, invest these precious resources into improving other things within the Smithsonian.

This design change reads like something from The Onion..seriously? The Castle would then be clinging to one edge of a corny sci-fi stage set. An abomination and quite expensive one at that.

My son's DCPS class plays in the Haupt Garden on field trips. More and more green space is being lost in DC and especially around the Mall. Save the garden!

Please preserve this garden! The new design is dull, and why have more underground space on the Mall than is there already? I like to visit e.g., the Sackler, although the fact that it's underground is my last favorite element of it if the collections and installation design wasn't superlative, it would be a completely awful place.

As a frequent visitor to DC, I have come to cherish the garden as a place of rest after seeing the museums and monuments on the Mall. It would be a sad day indeed to see this welcoming place destroyed. Please don't let that happen.

The garden provides a lovely restful oasis in the mall. Why would you want to eliminate it. When I worked nearby I often went at lunchtime to decompress.
