I'm horrified that the Smithsonian could even consider getting rid of this treasure. It's an oasis of beauty and calm in a busy, hot, sticky city -- after 26 years of living here, it's still one of my very favorite spots. Very ill-considered, Smithsonian!

The gardens are integral to the character of the castle. This would be a historic mistake and a huge FAIL for the smithsonian. Why not tear down the castle too? Anyone for a nice Brutalist building in its place?

I studied at the USDA Graduate School, and we used this garden often to supplement our horticulture classes. We need to preserve green spaces and educational opportunities in DC. Please keep the garden!

The Haupt Garden must be saved in its current form. It is my favorite place in Washington, DC. The specimens are remarkable and can be found no where else in the region. It is a place of beauty and respite for office workers, tourists, residents and homeless alike.
