BIG's concept is a transgression against the District and its citizens. The Haupt Garden is a character defining feature of the Mall and BIG's puerile mephitic proposal must be stopped!

Why are we making changes to History? The garden and the background of the Castle is The most beautiful scenery in Washington DC. Not to mention the first Two buildings of the beginning of the SI Museums. The joy of walking through the garden to get to many of the museums from L’Enfant Plaza or from Capital Gallery was such Joy to see the beauty before having to walk into a meeting.

The Enid Haupt Garden is one of my favorite places in the city, an oasis on the mall. Why would you want to destroy a place so beautiful?

This is a beautiful garden with history and unlike any other area in Washington. It’s a place of peace in a busy city and should be saved for all to enjoy.

Please save this beautiful garden. Why spend so much money to change a garden that is currently so beautiful and natural into some proposed structure that is so grotesque and bleak?

Why? The garden is one of nicest and peaceful places we have in this area. The garden is a true jewel which should not be touched and cannot be replaced.

Please preserve this historic and wonderful garden! It is one of the best if not the best in DC and perfectly complements the castle.

We need to keep green spaces in DC and that includes the Haupt Garden.

The Enid Haupt Garden is loved and experienced nationwide and internationally by residents and visitors. No changes are desired. Simply continue to maintain, in accordance with the original designs and plan, utilizing the generous endowment Mrs. Haupt left solely for this purpose.

Save the Smithsonian's Haupt Garden and environs AS IS. It is a treasure of green space, quiet, and natural beauty unlike any other on the Mall. Replacing it dishonors its donors and all who will continue to benefit from it - residents and visitors from all over the world. Kathy Beckman, DC resident

This is a beautiful setting. We use it for photos on special occasions. Why would you do this?

No reason to fix something that is beautiful, treasured, and not broken. Leave it alone!
