The Smell is an iconic LA venue. The Smell has done so much for the community and many local bands. The Smell does not sell alcohol or tolerate drinking inside or outside of the venue. It had a special place in the hearts of people trying to get sober and stay sober. The Smell has a special place in everyone's hearts. So many bands got there first start there and continue to come back, despite how big they get. There is no need to tear down a venue that has done so much for people. There is no need to put in another parking lot. The Smell brings people together and will fight to keep its doors open.

It would be a shame to destroy such a hub of cultural innovation, and a thriving place where people feel welcome, because of gentrification. The Smell is a great place for kids and adults alike to go to a safe all ages alcohol free environment when home couldn't provide one. It has become a staple for small bands to get they're start there and has always been a Jem of the neighborhood. For large real estate companies to be executing corporate conglomerate take overs, By demolishing the important cultural epicenters of the community , it not only lowers the moral of the community, but it pushes out longtime buisness owners for the sake of the development of new unaffordable apartments. Personally the smell has affected me like no other place has. To see these musicians go up and play there hearts out in a era of music where people just don't do that anymore is something that simply just can't be replaced.

The smell is and forever will be a huge and influential part of my life and the city's culture. The music scene in the LA/ San Fernando area would not be the same without it. Long live the smell
