The Smell is one of the many venues that deserves to remain untouched. It's now unfortunately commonplace to demolish venues such as these and replace them with meaningless, mainstream, commercial structures. Los Angeles is losing more and more classic spots as days go by resulting in the city losing its character. Los Angeles was, and still should be, a melting pot of artists and talent. Tearing down venues like The Smell reinforces the suppression of artistic expression and should not be tolerated.

It is sad to see so many spaces continue to close. So Cal/LA prides itself on being a cultural harbinger, its legacy and brand are built on this history. How will art and culture survive if there is no place for it to be created or for scenes to be cultivated?
