I'm from Vancouver, Canada, so you wouldn't think this would affect me all that much, but it does. See, without The Smell, the music culture attached to that venue would die. Sure, people could go elsewhere to get some tunes, but nothing else would ever truly replace the community built around it. And from the community built around it, actual people are making actual money. So in a sense, you could say that to destroy The Smell would be to destroy jobs.
However, if that isn't enough, I'll appeal to the personal; I've spent easily over 500 hours listening to music from just one of the bands from The Smell's community. If just one band from this venue can give me that much enjoyment, from such a great distance away, and it were to be replaced with a parking lot, just imagine how many people would never get to experience the new music that comes from this growing community.

Los Angeles desperately needs all ages venues for young music fans to experience live music. The Smell provides that service and does so admirably with low cover prices, independent booking and has been a staple and steady home for underground local and touring bands for over a decade. There is no venue like it elsewhere in Los Angeles and it needs to continue.

The smell is a great place to come and hangout and to get a raw sound of music. I would never change anything about it, The Smell is perfect in my eyes. Don't demolish it.
