The Smell is a cultural landmark in the City of Los Angeles. It has been, for many years, an epicenter of a unique music and art scene that is vital to the diverse cultural makeup of a the city. Do not destroy this cultural landmark. Instead, help support this city's music culture and heritage and save The Smell!!!!

This venue deserves to stay. It houses a place to play for various small bands and local bands.

I don't know who to properly address this to, so I'll address Los Angeles. Dear Los Angeles, Please do the right thing, I know you have it in you to intervene. We have a dire and grim situation that needs your attention. Here we have The Smell, a Los Angeles institution, one of the most important music venues in the country mind you and that's no hyperbole, and a creative and artistic hub and community to so many of all-ages, about to be demolished....for a parking lot? Let's take a step back for a moment and consider this. A parking lot. And it's not just the Smell- a historic building that from my understanding dates back to the early 1900s is destined to be destroyed for...a parking lot. In addition to the Smell, this building houses several thriving businesses, including the Downtown Independent theater and Bar Jalisco, both important venues in their own right who mean so much to a great deal of people. By now Los Angeles, your guts have to be churning. You have to be at the very least, embarrassed and saddened by what is going on here. The very thing that made you and your downtown beautiful again, is being stripped away and replaced with something devoid of color, charm, uniqueness, love and soul. I can tell you that The Smell and those other businesses have all those characteristics and they have existed because of a real purpose of bringing happiness, culture and art to a massive and devoted audience and fanbase. So Los Angeles, you are going to stand by and watch and do nothing as all of this is destroyed because Downtown LA is in need of...another parking lot? Los Angeles, I implore you. Do the right thing and do not let this travesty happen. Save the Smell and all its neighbors.

The Smell changed my life and it leaves a huge impact on the LA music scene. It gives kids the power to have their own community and connect to others through music
