These young girls have put so much into developing their skills for the sophomores and juniors to not get to play next year is so unfair.

Field hockey has had a profoundly positive impact on high school students, fostering a range of valuable skills and attributes. Participation in the sport has encouraged students to develop strong teamwork and communication abilities, as they work together towards common goals on the field. Additionally, the physical demands of field hockey have promoted a healthy lifestyle, emphasizing the importance of fitness and perseverance. Beyond the physical and social benefits, the sport has also instilled a sense of discipline and time management, as students balance their academic responsibilities with their commitment to the team. Overall, field hockey has contributed to the holistic development of high school students, preparing them for future challenges both on and off the field. This team is great for leadership development and having great support throughout as a team. Springfield is a great community to have this sport. It should be valued as any other sport. As Springfield only has few girl sports and field hockey is a great sport to have resemble that it might be meek and small recognition but it’s an amazing sport to get into. It’s sad to see this sport be diminished due to not as popular demand. But as I have played the sport throughout my high school career . It showed that it is as important as any other sports team if not more. Field hockey can have a really positive impact on a community. It brings people together, whether they’re playing, coaching, or cheering from the sidelines. The sport fosters a sense of unity and pride, especially when local teams perform well. It also provides opportunities for youth to stay active and engaged, which can lead to healthier lifestyles and better social connections. Plus, local games and tournaments can boost community spirit and even support local businesses. Overall, field hockey helps build a stronger, more connected community!

This is a travesty, if the program did not have enough students it should be a consideration. However this program has continued for years using recycled equipment while other sporting activities yearly get new equipment.

Keep SHS Field Hockey. A roster of 16 is more than enough for a team and subs.

Some of my daughter’s favorite memories from high school are from field hockey. One is even a state champion from that magical 2016 season. Please keep field hockey in Springfield.
