They should be released from the enclosed area, not 'culled'. Why do humans treat the killing of animals so lightly? Their life is as precious to them as ours is to us.

Medium to long term welfare of the deer? Dead?! Yes, they are easily stressed and difficult to herd. I know because I have managed them. I also know that if you can shoot them selectively, you can also dart them selectively. Shooting is an option of convenience!

Culling is the action of those who can't be bothered to find any other alternative - it's quick, easy and cheap. Anyone who tries to tell you it's humane and the right thing to do is lying. It is expedient, nothing more. I could sympathise (but never agree with) them if they were to come clean and be honest. I might even respect them, but spurious claptrap involving culling being humane is complete b______t and should be treated with the contempt it deserves. Shame on Sellafield Ltd and shame on the DIP.
