Essential for us. Kids would not be able to attend this school otherwise.

Traffic problems in Tauranga was caused when the council started to charge students to use school buses. It is now cheapier for parents to drive their kids to school. We all notice the difference in traffic in the school holidays. School buses should stay and be free. Increase rates to cover this. Kids legally cant be at home by themselves until they are over 14 years old and now minors will have to be responsible to get on one bus then get on a second bus just to get to school. If I had school age children I would not like my children on public buses with all the dodgy people out there. Also if the council increased the frequency of buses maybe they would find more people would use public transport.

The safety and access to education for our children is a core value to New Zealands, dedicated buses ensuring their safety, welfare and timely delivery to school while minimising cars on the road and downtime is a vital service in supporting these core values.

Totally unbelievable ... crazy to even think the authorities are going to do something which makes our children vulnerable and adds to the already increasing traffic problems Tauranga are facing. I would definitely not be letting my son use this proposed system at all even if it was free.

We need to be offering better public transport options to reduce congestion in Tauranga - not reducing them

The Councils need to take a serious look at the implications and not just a perceived saving on dollars as putting more Hopper buses and drivers in place does not address childrens safety in travelling on dedicated School transport , time frames, passenger numbers and road congestion.

Bus fares already add significantly to our budget. I'm not willing to pay for a service that will decrease the safety of my children. I, like many others, will be taking my kids to school personally (adding to the traffic congestion) should these changes be made to the school buses.

We are wanting the bus to stay he same as not happy about out 11 year old having to change buses at bayfair to get to Aquinas from Papamoa. We live and work in Papamoa and will end up driving over to the school if the proposed changes go ahead which seems silly also adding to the traffic congestion.

I do not support changes to the school buses in Tauranga, essentially due to efficiency and safety concerns. Under this proposal you will see an increase in private cars on the road as parents have to many concerns about children changes buses across town and unsavoury adults on the buses.

I can only see more parents dropping kids off at school and congesting our already busy roads if their children have to use public transport which could entail having to change to several buses to get to school.
