This is extremely unsafe to expect young children to switch buses to and from school. They r vulnerable and could be exposed to harm. The bus company should Have a moral approach to the safety and well being of these children.

I have given my feedback to the proposal to change the schoolhopper service, but in summary, and consistent with the views of other parents, the proposal could result in significant unintended consequences. For example, such is the concern of parents that their children (many primary school and intermediate age) having to change onto or take public school buses that I fear many of us will instead take our children to school in private vehicles. The safety of my children is my first and foremost consideration and the proposed changes do nothing to ameliorate my concerns in this regard.

It will leave alot of parents no choice but to drive their children to school. The traffic is going to be an absolute nightmare. I am totally against ANY child having to cross Maunganui Road to get to school, and putting a crossing there would hold up the traffic even more.

We desperately need this as using public bus service from Mt Maunganui will make the kids day far to long and will interfere with other after school activities

The designated school buses should remain to ensure adequate access to the catholic education Aquinas offers
The very thought of the additional congestion the changes will create for the pyes pa roundabout and Road is horrifying

you will only add to the traffic congestion by forcing students to walk significant distances to the new bus stops, have them make multiple changes and/or force them to ride with the general public. I won't be the only parent forced to drive my kids to school. re-think your decision for goodness sakes.

These changes are not in the interests of student's safety. Please keep school buses in Tauranga as is.

Totally agree, less busses = more cars on already clogged roads.

Traffic congestion, training young people to use public transport are just two good reasons to have buses for Tauranga. and if funding support is needed let the community talk about the options to partner!

I don't think this change has the safety and the best interest of children in mind. It will also add to Tauranga's traffic congestion.

Terrible idea. There is enough traffic on the road in Tauranga already. It is not safe to have our children changing bus, with the potential of missing their connection and having to crowd onto public transport.

NZ needs to encourage people to use public transport and remove cars from our roads, It starts with teaching our children and the younger generation to use buses to school. If you make it too hard/unsafe parents will re-enforce using cars to get to school - and it is an opportunity lost to educate our future adults to use public transport.
As a member of the public I would not want to share a bus with all those school children and it would discourage me from using them as well.

Ministry of Education needs to get involved and provide funding for buses. It is short sighting of Central Govt to leave this to regional Council as they have eye only on costs savings.Roads and transport and wider economy affected by parent traffic on road. With the progressive changes in service over the last 5 years, its now much faster and cheaper to drive my child to school than catch the bus. This is due to a series of bad govt decisions, at central and regional level. Central Govt needs to reverse Min of Education changes and then provide free full funding to regional council to run service, with better conditions imposed i.e. it should not take more than 45 mins for child to catch bus to/from school , no child should have to take more than one bus trip to school if under 16 etc
