This proposal clearly does not have the best interest of the families of Tauranga at heart and is all about money. It has not been very well thought through and will mean a lot more traffic on the roads during the busy times. No confidence, get rid of them

The Ministry of Education website states that school bus routes should get the students to and from school quickly and safe.
The proposal will have fewer direct routes to school. There will be a significant number of increases in bus changes for students when negotiating the proposed public network.
My son will now have to take 2 buses to school. This will mean the journey to school will take longer.
More people will drive their children to school, putting more pressure on the already bottlenecked roads.
This is a step backwards.

Our babies need to be safe and protected. Making them walk across Fraser street is a hazedous risk and walking down 13th is not safe especially in winter when it's cold and rainy.
You are also exposing our children to greater risk of the public, teenagers, gangsters potential sex offenders by putting them on public transport.
You are putting our kids in danger to save a quick buck.
Shame on you.
Put the safety of our kids first.

There are already enough traffic management hazards with congestion at drop off/collection time outside the schools. The loss of a school bus service will increase these hazards even more so!

First you charge us to use school busses now you are removing them for public buses.. come on Tauranga Council - think of our kids and keeping them safe. Congestion on the roads is already ridiculous from 2.30 onwards, don't make it worse!

this is very concerning to me as a parent. If this pushes thru, I will be forced to just bring my kids to school rather than compromise their safety.

Public buses are not a suitable form of transportation for school children, they absolutely must have their dedicated school buses

I'm not comfortable with the new MMC option stopping on road opposite the school so children have to cross over, it's a safety issue. Also not happy with the change at Bayfair for MMI students. I think it could cause confusion & stress for less independent children. There will also be issues due to extreme weather if they have to walk to school from bayfair rather than being taken directly there, arriving at school wet/damp. Also how do the children deal with situations where the public bus is full, they shouldn't have to worry about this when all they need to do is get to school, it will just add extra pressure to both students and parents... wondering if their children made it to school untroubled...

I am against the proposed changes in the bus network. I have a 15 yr.old son and my only concern is his safety and health. This proposed network is very much the opposite of this. I am hopeful that the council will hear our plea and doesn't change it at all. Please make life easier for our young ones.

In this day and age we need to do more to keep kids safe. They need to be dropped TO school, not be dropped a kilometre away. Keep school buses and add different routes.

Our kids living in Otumoetai will need to catch a 7.04am bus to arrive t 8.15am at Aquinas. They'll catch a 3.45pm bus to arrive at 5.05. Its 2.5 hours a day without including the additional wasted hour at Central bus stop and Aquinas waiting. Undoubtedly the bus service is subsidised but this doesn't seem an unreasonable request of the regional council. I assume its supposed to support the community it represents? The increase in bus fees since the council took over from the Min of Education has already seen a significant increase in traffic gridlock for parents commuting kids around school times. Any gains to regional council from dropping the school bus subsidies would seem likely to be offset by extra costs to the Tga Council in increased costs in road maintenance with all the extra traffic movements..

Can't believe that this is your answer to growth and congestion on our roads.
