This school bus proposal for mid 2018, seem to not make sense by putting on extra bayhopper busses to take kids up to Aquinas College and takeaway the original buses.

I feel so strongly against these proposed changes. If they take place, I will be definitely driving my daughter to school, which adds to the already congested roads.

Cutting school bus routes and transferring students to public transport is surely a step in the wrong direction. Student safety and convenience of the current system encourage bus useage. Filling public buses with students may discourage public use of the bus services creating more private vehicles on the roads at peak times. Encouraging school bus services should be priority.

Disagree with the changes proposed as this is not a solution that help school children getting to and from school and will significantly increase traffic around Tauranga. Children having to use public transport with frequent changes will confuse many and put them at at risk in unsafe Situations. All for the council to save money. Sort out the road issues first, Like widening roads and bridges.

As the Dean of International Students, I am very concerned about how the proposed bus changes will affect our new student intakes in Feb & July. The risk of students getting lost & confused on their first day of school, in a new country, speaking a 2nd language is HUGE. Their safety will be compromised and this is a real cause for concern.

In Brisbane private contractors also provide buses on school routes, usually a bit more expensive than the council buses. Many parents use them because of the issues raised, safety, time etc? Is this a motive by Tauranga City Council, they know full and well people won't agree with the move so will seek alternatives. Just a thought.
