We will not use the proposed bus route from Mount Maunganui to Aquinas College. It is unsafe for my children to wait around at Bayfair and they will be required to catch two buses making their already 45 minute journey even longer.

Hi I'm year 7 and this is my first time going in school buses. I'm reallly enjoying it and I've made a few new friends. This change will affect me as a person. I will feel unsafe and very conscious about the whole situation. Because I'm small I could get physically hurt. This is not good for young children. I don't like being late for school and this would stress me out. Also being late all the time will encourage other children that being late is fine. This will create more traffic then there already is on our busy roads because of parents dropping their children of at school because they don't want to go on the bus. School buses are a safe and reliable way of getting us children to and from school. If the buses are too full other people can't get in leading to more frustration. There are transfers that involve young children crossing the road, if primary kids get stressed the could run across the busy roads. Think about it. Is this really a good idea, put kids at risk.

Please keep our kids safe - increased travel times, multiple bus changes, overfull buses, congested bus hubs, and increased road congestion as parents choose to drive kids to school - Please retain dedicated school bus services - it shouldn't come down to cost - it comes down to keeping our kids safe - Who would take responsbility when the first child is hit by a car crossing Cameron Rd???

Such a rubbish idea. My son would need to cross 4 lanes of traffic on Cameron road, to catch his bus to pyes pa, 2 bus changes. And his bus can get full, and the bus he would have to catch, is usually full as well. Dangerous to be standing.to get home, is another 2 bus rides. If it works, no need to change

Child safety being put at risk.
Increased number of cars on already congested roads due to parents dropping children off at school.

Please keep our dedicated school buses. Just as Wellington City and Auckland City Tauranga City should too. REGIONAL council need to make school buses affordable and convenient for children to ensure parents use the bus service. This proposal is neither!

I have real concerns that this proposal will result in: significantly longer journey times for students (increasing their already long days due to earlier start times for journeys to allow for bus changes then longer travel times to and from school); possible safety issues at bus hubs; increasing congestion on roads as parents drive students to school again.

Out with 45. Back to original stat as they always were. Why change what's right and safe for kids and parents of school kids need to be there to see them through safely too

We had the misfortune of parking and waiting near the bus station in Tauranga recently. Whilst waiting we saw a drug deal take place and a fight break out in the street in the space of 15 minutes. Great thing to expose our children to!

Keep the school buses or traffic in the Tauranga / Mount area will be a nightmare!!!!

This is a ridiculous and short sighted proposal. It will make it less safe for children travelling to school such that increasingly parents will provide the transport. This will further increase the road congestion.

We strongly object to this proposal. Our children currently feel safe travelling to school with others from the same school. They travel a direct route on one bus. Creating a more complex route will inevitably lengthen their daily travel time and taking away their school bus will compromise their safety. As a council you should be looking after our youth.

The proposed changes makes students living in Te Puna and beyond without any viable public means of getting to school.

The length of a school childs day will increase significantly if these changes go ahead. Extra-curricular activities will be impacted and the negative impact on the roads will be horrific. Lets learn from the other major centres that this system isn't working for.

A 7 minute drive and 10 minute bus ride now will turn into a 30-40 bus ride with a bus change to the other side of the road with no pedestrian crossing on Welcome Bay Rd.
Dangerous and time wasting. Not to mention exchange students trying to get to school with limited english.
