Petition to Halt Demolition of the Izaak Walton League Lodge

My grandson loved Nature Camp. Every child should get the chance to experience nature up close, like in this camp.

I remember Sanborn Lake from the 1950's. It was wonderful even then. I hope the Lodge will be repaired due to its' historical significance.

My children loved nature camp and thankfully the lodge was there for them to shelter in during a terrible hail storm, a few years ago.

Nature camp helps create, inspire, and further interest not only in the wonders of nature, but in the very heart of science. It may be the only exposure some of these children get, to the many different experiences Nature Camp provides. Stillwater needs this camp! This camp needs a secure place to call home!

I cannot imagine a summer without my daughter attending Nature Camp. She has learned so much about appreciating nature and its creatures through this camp. There is nothing else like it!

My kids will tell you that Nature Camp is the best week of the year - I'm sure they are not the only campers who feel this way. It is an amazing and valuable thing when kids LOVE something that is so GOOD for them.

Stillwater Nature Camp is a great experience for our children. First tree ever climbed by my child was in front of the Lodge. They learn so much in that week of attendance and make new friends and connect with friends in a safe, educational environment.

Nature Camp deepens children's love for nature and caring for and appreciating all creatures. I was blessed to be part of this wonderful program. Please please save the lodge and keep Nature Camp going!

Nature camp is awesome

Stillwater Nature Camp is a gem. And Sanborn Lake, and the lodge, have seemed like ideal locations. I hope the city will do everything possible to keep this program going.

This lodge has been a part of Nature Camp since I was a child. I grew up in the camp and have dear memories in that lodge. We need to work together to improve the lodge, not destroy it.

Please don't tear this down! So many people/children have wonderful memories there and it would be lovely to continue the long standing tradition for families to come!

Keep some type of structure in place in this location for future generations. It has been a great, local location for events of this kind. We don't want to lose this.

This camp has been a haven and magical wonder for 4 years in our family. I hope to see the mature-loving goodness continue with help to save or repair the lodge!

Favorite place of our grandchildren.

Both of my daughters spent several summers enjoying camp at Sandborn. My oldest held a full grown albino Boa Constrictor, it tickled her ear as it "sniffed" her with it's tongue. I still have that picture on my fridge, almost 17 years later. It's a picture that shows true, deep enjoyment and is something she talks about to this day. She met an alligator named Stumpy who was rescued from a contaminated swamp. She saw frogs who had various deformities due to contaminated water. She met a bobcat. She learned to recognize various animal tracks. She learned so much about the environment, ecology, nature, etc.! She still talks about learning she could eat gooseberrys and how sour they were. I honestly believe nature camp at Sanborn is one of the biggest reasons she chose to obtain a degree in Range-land ecology. We must do everything we can to keep the nature camp at Sanborn. Our future depends on the younger generations learning about, and learning to respect, the environment, ecology, wild life
