Save the San Pedro House Cottonwood!

Please do not cut down the beautiful Cottonwood tree

This beautiful Cotttonwood tree should be able to live out its life. It is not a danger but should be protected, not destroyed

There has to be a way to protect the public and protect this tree, which has long served as an icon for the SPRNCA. Fencing is the answer.

I agree with BLM that this tree is in decline, but fencing it to protect both the tree and the public is the best answer. In that way we, the public, get to enjoy seeing the tree as long as it is around, but are protected from limb failure. I suggest a scientific study to document the stages of decline so the data can be used to project future options on other similar trees.

This tree has been an important part of the scenery and the experience of the visit to this iconic birding spot for a very long time. There is no reason to destroy it. Cottonwoods, especially aged ones with nooks and crannies, are very important for nesting birds and other animals in addition to the food and shade resource they provide. If you are worried about the danger of this tree, you are worrying too much. May as well fence off the river and pave the paths too, in case someone should fall.

I love how people just think they can decide to destroy something that's been alive longer then them.

I've visited this tree for years and felt it's aura and strength. Please let it be!

Myself and many friends played on this tree as children. It's become a part of the history of the San Pedro, and of the surrounding community. Protection of what little natural beauty we have in this area, and protection of our environment as a whole, is a lesson many children are taught, but few seem to learn. Prioritise convenience over the environment and children will learn that the nature is a nuisance.

Please DO NOT cut down this tree, it's power as an attractor of visitors FAR OUTWEIGHS any short term benefits from cutting it down!

I have very fond memories of going to the San Pedro house and climbing all over that tree. It was my favorite thing to do there. I would be very sad to know that future generations would not get to play and learn around that tree.

Why is this even something that is being considered? This is a conservation area, and cutting down a tree will not be tolerated.

Seriously? How many more trees need to fall at the hands of men to no benefit?

This is a magnificent being who provides beauty and shade while cleansing the air your breathe. Who in their right mind or heart would kill such an old friend?

Save this landmark tree!!
