Please cordon off the cottonwood intended for removal to keep visitors away from the hazards of the tree instead of cutting it down. It would be a great educational opportunity for visitors to watch nature naturally decompose such a magnificent tree and watch wildlife utilize a decaying tree. There are alternatives to removal!! For the trees around the SPH, removing hazardous branches from the trees makes sense. Thank you.

Safety pruning is acceptable but cutting down a perfectly healthy tree is just wrong. It destroys habitat not to mention great beauty. trees also help clean carbon from the air through respiration.

The big cottonwood tree,named Plaza, should remain for as long as it remains standing . It is the one outstanding feature that is so exordinary at the site.

I visit the San Pedro House frequently to hike, walk, and enjoy the beauty. Surely, the Bureau of Land Management can come up with another plan to preserve the beautiful Cottonwood tree that we all enjoy rather than go to extreme measures and simply cut it down. I think the Bureau of Land Management needs to rethink how they look upon the beautiful natural resources in Cochise County if they are just so willing to quickly cut down a historic treasure. Save our Cottonwood!

This iconic tree should remain, even after it dies. Selective trimming can remove the most dangerous branches. Eventually it will provide great nesting opportunities for hole nesters

If its a Riparian National Conservation Area. Then the tree is part of that natural habitat. It should be left to natures course not what man dictates. I have worked on the Verde River Riparian Conservation Area and we don't mess with anything there. Other than pick up trash and break up fire rings. Please leave this tree alone and put focus and funds towards something more positive.

BLM should NOT cut down the Cottonwood tree near the San Pedro House, not any others in the immediate area. It provides habitat for birds and wildlife and beauty to the many human visitors. If allowed to die a natural death it will provide organic material to help restore the environment. If you must, protect the nearby humans with a low barrier.

The large Cottonwood looks very healthy in the picture. As long as there are some signs to keep people away from it and a fence around it, the tree should be allowed to die when it is ready. Mother Nature has a good plan for her tree. Can people read a sign that says we are not responsible for injuries due to stupidity - like the stupid driver law?

The birds that are attracted to these trees are priceless. Many use it for foraging resting roosting nesting and shade. I think it very important that these trees die a natural death so they can be of use to the birds that expect them to be there a few more years.
