Even if the tourist area needs to be moved save these trees. I was told that it will cost $50,000 to cut and remove these trees that would be more than enough to move every thing away from them and fence the area...

I am so sad that it is hard to find anything good to say about the BLM these days. It's a magnificent old cottonwood and maybe the oldest. Please give me a good reason to take it out.

Please put a permanent fence around the tree and do not cut it down. The tree is home for numerous bird species I have seen over the years while birding there. Birding at the San Pedro House is amazing in the large cottonwoods around the house. Different species than the river and a wonderful area for people who are disabled and unable to walk to the river to view the birds. Thank you

This icon of the San Pedro is, in its dying state, a laboratory wherein a long term study could be undertaken to chronicle its stages of decay and disintegration as this riparian area reclaims those resources that gave life to this majestic cottonwood.

How many years does it take for a tree like this to grow in Arizona? It's bad enough that we lose mature trees in storms - please don't destroy this one!

Please allow this tree to have a full, natural life. It still offers resources for local wildlife. Removing it in one go would be a shock for the local San Pedro ecosystem. What is best is not always convenient. Please follow through with what is best for the wildlife.

There seems to be little point to cutting the tree down other than convenience ... therefore I vote to keep the tree, prune any dying limbs and leave it to die naturally.

Surely the BLM can protect itself from liability by posting warnings and fencing the tree off from overzealous visitors.

Most of us living today, will not live long enough to see a tree grow to that size to replace it.
