Please do not cut down this ancient, historic, biologically significant Fremont Cottonwood located at the visitors center at the San Pedro House on the historic Boquillas Ranch.
For goodness sakes, this is a national riparian CONSERVATION area!
A little pruning, and some careful arboreal management, and this venerable ancient tree may live another 500 years.
BLM should be especially sensitive to modeling responsible stewardship on SPRNCA, as it was established as a living example of conservation management of a natural riparian system. Please commit to responsible long term stewardship of this and other ancient trees!

Please don't cut down this majestic piece of history. The tree is important to so many people. Prune it, fence it, do what you need to do to keep things safe...but leave it standing.

From the picture posted the tree does not look to be a nuisance. It is healthy so there is not reason to waste money cutting down a tree that shades and adds to ambiance.
