Please allow this tree to complete it's life cycle allowing it to create valuable habitat, and create necessary safety measures to protect people from themselves when around it.

My father (Jim Herrewig) was one of the people who started the friends of the San Pedro. This beautiful site of historical significance held a special place for him and we spent many special family occassions, holidays, hikes, etc. there. Since this wonderful place held such a special place in my heart, I got married there, right under the beautiful tree you want to cut down. It was a gorgeous ceremony and since then we have seen the site formed with new Ramadan and pathes and fallen branches safely taken down and recycled as seats. I beg that you find an alternative to simply cutting down a magnificent landmark and home do many river creatures. There must be a way!

Rumor sais the reason for chopping down the tree is because it is dead. How can this tree be dead? It's still got green leaves. If it were dead it would have no leaves, and would be a dried out hunk of wood. Even for scientific study there is no legitimate reason to cut this tree down.

Has this Cottonwood given any indication that it wants to be put out of its misery?? Please, don't be stupid. Make the fence permanent and no one will be in danger.

There are so few of these big , historical trees left ... please protect this one now .

I have traveled to Arizona many times over the years as an active birder. The SPR Conservation Area is a must-visit for us from the East Coast. Please do not cut this tree -- just protect it.

Save this ancient Fremont Cottonwood!

This is an important element for the park and provides habitat to birds and other animals. Cutting it down would be senseless. Do the right thing, and prune it properly.

Love that tree

This is a nobrainer. The San Pedro Riparian Area is a precious resource. That one tree provides habitat for a myriad of wildlife, not to mention shade and solace for the human population. Cutting it down would constitute wanton, meaningless destruction of a valuable resource. BLM Please show that you can be responsible stewards. This agency has developed a spotty reputation over the years. Saving this tree would help boost your reputation with locals and tourists alike.

This is a huge and important tree that families come together and get excited about!

Please keep this ancient cottonwood. I've enjoyed its shade and grandeur since the late 1970s. It is an old friend.

This famous and historic tree is still very much alive. It only needs careful, thoughtful pruning. Its esthetic value and educational value should not be disregarded by BLM, not to mention its role in providing shelter, food, and nest sites for the many bird species that currently use it.

LOOK AT THIS BEAUTY!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS TREE. IT WOULD ALWAYS SOOTHE MY SOUL + I VISITED IT REGULARLY, AS DID MANY OF MY BISBEE NEIGHBORS.

This tree is beautiful and should be left where it is

I grew up at what is now the San Pedro House. I love that tree and we named it Plaza. I also understand the safety issues.
