I hope the city will not allow the destruction of this beautiful, historic building for the profit of the 1%. Microunits...??! How will that improve the quality of life for Seattle residents?

My husband and I used to live at the RoyVue just a few years ago, and it was in pristine condition. There is absolutely no reason to destroy such a beautiful and historical landmark of Seattle that is home to so many. I know that myself and many others will do whatever it takes to insure that the RoyVue remains standing and thriving for many years to come.

Old buildings are the soul of a city. Development is good but not if it takes part of our soul. This building should be saved!

The Roy Vue is a classic Seattle apartment building. We need to preserve as much of Seattle's character as we can. We have to stop forcing the middle class -- what is left of it -- out of Seattle. We have to stop forcing families out of Seattle. Apartments like these are wonderful homes for in-city families who don't want or can't afford a actual house. These are homes you can live in long term, not just for a year while you save money for something else -- or until you have a partner to live with or (heaven forbid) children! Too many of our policies in Seattle are encouraging 'churn' instead of stability. We need stable neighborhoods filled with residents who want to be in that exact neighborhood, not transients who could care less about where they live.

Can we not please still savor some of the neighborhood flavor of Seattle and keep one of the last dying parts of The Hill alive? We need to be developing community, not land!

This building is a quintessential part to the fabric of the Capitol Hill neighborhood and its beautiful interiors are a lasting reminder to the historic architecture of Seattle. These micro-units will not provide a desirable living space for anyone who has to pay such an exorbitant rate for such a meager dwelling. Our city needs more affordable housing that someone can actually live in. Not outlandishly priced cells that only the rich can afford. What is the point? As a former resident of the neighborhood and a frequent visitor to this part of the community, it would be devastating to see this landmark destroyed.
