Putting aside the historical value, the fact these new residences in much greater volume will not have parking available will only congest the neighborhood streets even further.

What a devestating plan to degrade the most beautiful apartment building and cherished garden in Capitol Hill into another outrageously priced apartment building offering insane pricing and packing people in like sardines. Forcing out the wonderful people who have loved this building and called Capitol Hill home for years and offering prices only tech company salaries can afford. That will just continue to rip the soul out of Capitol Hill-the neighborhood so many of our friends have called home for our entire adult lives. This building must be saved! Too many beautiful landmarks of Seattle have already been destroyed and too many Capitol Hill and Seattle natives can no longer afford to live in the city they love. What is Seattle without those wonderful people and beautiful buildings? Where would the culture go? Save this incredible building and help protect Seattle’s heritage and soul!

I can't imagine how anyone could take a look at this building and decide that it should look any other way. A beautiful space and a long time home to so many!

I have visited my dear friends who live at Roy Vue many times over the years and it has to be one of the most beautiful buildings I’ve seen. It’s so refreshing to see historical buildings like this still exhibit and beyond heart breaking to hear here that a developer would remove this historical gem from a very special spot in the neighborhood. Character can’t be replaced and green spaces are so important in city environments and this building has one of the best. I wish more cities would stand up against developers and fight hard to protect the character and historical gems that make people want to live in a city or neighborhood. The last thing Seattle needs is another soulless, sterile building filled with over priced tiny apartments that have no character.

More apartments with a higher price per square foot is NOT increasing affordable housing. And what happens when Amazon opens their second headquarters, jobs move, and you're left with empty condos and have ruined everything special about Seattle? Why not just build a strip mall on the market?

Buildings such as this are what make living in vibrant cities possible for those who exist outside stratospheric income brackets but still maintain hope for real, essential quality of life. It's possible in cities until their thoughtful and accessible spaces are destroyed.
