Great pub, an integral part of the community. Please don't let them destroy this piece of history,

I love going to this pub when visiting family! It’s such a great place filled with positivity, and friendly faces! Don’t get rid of this place. It’s history, atmosphere and enjoyment is something you’d won’t find anywhere else.

I have live in Glossop for over 50 years. I have family that lived in and around the area since the early 1900’s to say the pub has no historic significance is an insult to the people of this town!

would be saddened to see this famous watering hole disappear

It would be an awful shame to see the disappearance of yet another of Glossop's history. We must maintain a link with history in order to have an anchor for the future; to learn from, to educate with. Shame on the developers for putting a small profit ahead of the community that feel strongly about this area and it's history. #savetheroyaloakinn!

The Royal Oak on Sheffield Road is one of the oldest ale houses in Glossop and an integral part of Glossop's heritage, it was built in 1818 by Joshua Shepley, in an age when horses, carriages and passengers would been refreshed on their daily trips between Manchester to Sheffield on the old turnpike road, does the history and heritage of Glossop mean nothing to some people? It's an absolute disgrace that the demolition of this fine building is even being proposed, the current custodian of this property should hang their head in shame.

There are more than enough housing developments already in Glossop we don’t need this historic building pulled down and replaced with more. The pub is still needed it is the closest to Shirebrook surely us residents need a pub that doesn’t take us 30 minutes to walk to more

How and why is this even being considered... This should be kept as a pub. No excuses... They have built too many houses in Glossop already with infrastructure upgrades...

First stop many had to telephone relatives letting them know they were safe after the disaster in Sheffield . Great pub with 1000 houses within walking distance. Personally having lived in Glossop for over 30 years I never once set foot in either the queens or the Bull.

An old coaching inn where the horses were changed after the journey from Manchester and before climbing over the Snake Pass. Part of Glossop's heritage and must be saved.

Surely any locality needs a variety of businesses and houses and not houses alone otherwise places like Glossop will become nothing but one big housing estate, as if Glossop needs another batch of houses many folk can't afford anyway. I am sure if the current tenants were allowed to buy the pub they make it a thriving business and could expand the business by doing B&B as well as restaurant and pub, or add a little shop which I am sure would be appreciated by those in the locality instead of having to trundle all the way into Glossop just to get a loaf of bread

This public house has been at the bottom of the snake pass for 2003 years old and is community place where people can meet up and have a meal and a drink as well as walkers, and passing through trade. Building houses would be a disaster as the A57 is the main route from Manchester to Sheffield and it's a busy road without having more houses it would dangerously on the road get out on the other roads near by and there would be a accident to happen you have problems getting in and out of Glossop This building should be saved and keeping it harriage of Glossop as we have lost so many public houses .chris and the family make you feel welcome there with lovely food being served save this nice pub as it is the first and last pub going and coming back over the snake pass .

Already plenty of new houses going up in the area. Also the Thai food that comes from Sa Tang in the pub is incredible.

Too many old buildings being demolished for greed. They are irreplaceable.

My grandad used to go there in the 1950's. There is a big community that need a pub close by.
