SAVE THE EQUESTRIAN CENTER AT THE RESERVE AT LAKE TRAVIS!!

It was heartbreaking news to learn that the Barn at the Reserve will be closing. Our son's family owns a horse that boards there. Our visit to their home is never complete without a trip out to the Reserve. This barn at the Reserve was a major factor in the location of their present home. It would be an aesthetic disaster to tear down this natural preserve for more buildings.

We purchased a home and relocated our family from Denver, CO. We looked at the Reserve as a slower pace of life and better environment for our children. The equestrian center was what made our decision to purchase a home in the Reserve instead of Angel Bay or The Coves. We were never informed about the possibility of future funds running dry for this "amenity" we would be paying for. "Every neighborhood has a pool, but only the Reserve has a horse barn!" Clearly, the equestrian center is a integral part of the ambiance and lifestyle of The Reserve as marketed and presented as a 'resort lifestyle' community. While we currently have a real estate purchase in the community under consideration, the way in which Mc Combs Enterprises has 'presented' this action, without concern for stakeholders in the equestrian center, certainly speaks volumes. I would urge McCE to consider an amicable solution to retain this unique amenity at The Reserve.

As a new home owner we were not happy to hear of the proposed changes to our community. To me representations were made and considering all things should be kept. We should try to find a workable solution to this situation.

We are not horse owners, but do not support removing the amenity in order to build more cottages - will bring the property values down!

Please give the interested resident parties the opportunity to formulate a business plan to operate the equestrian center and save it. The horses and equestrian center lend a very upscale, sophisticated feel to this community. While we do not own a horse, it was definitely something we had considered a possibility in the future in a move to The Reserve. As Cliffside Cottage owners and residents, another cottage development going in that will directly compete in property values is not something we are excited about.

We do not have a horse or use the Equestrian center. However, we do feel this amenity adds value to our property and it did influence our decision to purchase. I think the center should be kept.

While I am not a horse owner, I do not support the elimination of the amenities and the atmosphere which were the main reasons for us purchasing our lot and beginning the building process. More cottages, less amenities, and less charm as is exactly the opposite of what attracted us to The Reserve.

I am concerned about what the future holds for this attractive community without the equestrian center. It is evident by the outpouring of signatures (during the busiest time of year) that the equestrian center is deeply rooted in the families invested in The Reserve. The equestrian center is a huge part of what makes The Reserve such a special place. My 3 daughters light up when they see the horses - it was a huge selling point for us. There were many other lake communities we could have chosen for our vacation home, but none matched what The Reserve offered - an equestrian community nestled in the natural beauty of the hill country in addition to The Lodge & resort-style swim park. All I ask is that you give it another chance.

One of the things I enjoy most when we drive to our home on the property is seeing the horses. To me, they are almost like the welcoming committee. I make it a point to visit the barn every time I walk the dogs and so enjoy saying hi to each horse. I have always had visions of having a horse on the property in the future and hope to save the equestrian center so this dream can come to fruition!

I've already sent letters to McCombs and Jones stating my disappointment with this decision and their failure to notify all property owners; and pointing out the resulting risk to their reputations. Glad to see the numerous petition comments regarding reputation risk. This should be a major issue for a developer with ongoing projects.

We recently purchased a home in The Reserve with no knowledge of the equestrian center closing. Had we know the center was being replaced with cottages we probably would have purchased elsewhere. The significance of this event should have been disclosed.

A large part of the beauty of the neighborhood is the horse and the barn, more cottages is not something that adds to the beauty of the neighborhood.

We built a home in the Reserve due to the unique character of the Reserve, which is due, in a big part, to the equestrian center. To lose this development-defining amenity to low-value cottages would be a disgrace.

Mark and I would love to see the equestrian center stay open. We bought our cottage and our lot at the reserve rather than at rough hollow in Lakeway specifically due to the equestrian center and the relaxed atmosphere. Closing the center and building more cottages runs contrary to both reasons we chose the reserve. I hope you will reconsider your decision to close the center.

Please do not close the Equestrian Center, We don't need more cottages devaluing our property.

As an early permanent resident of the Reserve, My husband and I have enjoyed this beautiful amenity for 4 plus years. We are in disbelief that one of the main reasons we chose to build in this beautiful community is being taken away! Please reconsider your decision! We need the Equestrian center to keep The Reserve what is was built to be, and what it is suppose to be!

I would not be interested in continuing home ownership in The Reserve if a change of this magnitude takes place. That would substantially alter the environment and feel of the offering. Ed Walker

Please reconsider! The equestrian center adds to the appeal of this wonderful development. There has to be another way to fund it and make everyone happy!
