This farmer’s market has become a pillar of the outer sunset community - it’s not only my weekly go to for vegetables and fruit, but it’s a great reason to get outside and meet your neighbors in the sometimes gloomy sunset. To close this pillar of our community would send the wrong message to your students and take away the joy so many families experience each week. Please make the right decision.

The farmers market is a greater community good than SI for a greater number of community members. Period.

Our family comes to the farmers’ market nearly every Sunday, not only to buy affordable, local produce and other items, but to see friends, community, use the playground. We come frequently for other events on Saturdays as well. It is much more than just a market. Please show your Jesuit commitment to community, SI, and let the Mercantile continue.

This seems like an unreasonable demand from Saint Ignatius. Sunset Mercantile Farmers Market is an established entity that serves many and the issue surrounding this seems to have to do with parking. Perhaps they should consider the impact the events have on Sunset Mercantile's parking and not have the events. Sunset Mercantile doesn't even occupy the blocks of St. Ignatius.

This market is a true blessing for our community. My family and I rely on it to bring us closer to our community, source sustainable food options and support our local farms.

My partner and I had our first date at this farmer’s market, and we’ve been going almost every weekend ever since. Whenever I have friends and family visit me on a Sunday, we always go to the farmer’s market. This place not only holds a special place on my heart, but is a stable source of income for many local businesses. Especially in a time of great uncertainty due to the pandemic, this outdoor amenity is vital for the entire community to stay connected, have a sense of belonging, and make healthy choices.

This vibrant shared space is important to me and my family’s physical and emotional well-being. Reserving space for more community-centered spaces like this Farmers Market is more important to overall community and planet health than reserving parking spots for SI events.
