even though there doesn't seem to be huge support for the arts currently in JC. One day, if this is gone, people will regret not taking action.

It would be a shame if the Citizens of JC allowed this home to be torn down for future Commercial development. It is an iconic JC home, and I applaud Ms. Cornett's efforts to save it.

Structures like these are becoming harder and harder to find. Save our history, not only for us but for future generations.

The plan for a community arts space in the Oaks Castle is an important project that needs to be supported by the community leaders. Do not let this property go into the hands of others at this late date when the organizers for the community arts center project have come so far and are so close to their goals.Cher Cornett Cher Cornett 3:25pm Nov 28 If you are following the "Save the Oaks Castle" for the community and the arts effort, there has been an offer made for the castle. We don't know who it is yet, so intentions are not known for it's use. Could be good, but who knows. It is important that we as a community make it clear that this important and beautiful historic feature and the grounds are saved and preserved for the future. It is also an important asset for our community that can provide a centerpiece destination that can attract visitors to our community and by extension to our restaurants and shops, and be a catalyst for improving the south side business district near I-26 Elizabethton exit. As an arts and events center, it can provide a needed space for showcasing our areas arts, music and cultural assets. As an arts education center it can house programs for kids, under served communities, seniors and others, and provide arts therapy for PTSD veterans and other groups with special challenges. As a green space so close to downtown, we have an almost unheard of asset: 21 unspoiled acres that can be a great park and botanical garden.
