This is a bit ridiculous. Sounds like a frivolous lawsuit to me.

Westin should have known better when they built there.. there will be live music with open venues downtown..it is part of austin's appeal. And being the music capital of the world..visitors expect to have music.. they should have never built a hotel so close to a venue..not the bars fault.

Live music venues have existed in Austin for decades. The Westin can only blame themselves for building a hotel a block from the center of downtown’s night life and now they want stop live music venues that existed long before the broke ground on their hotel. The Nook is completely within code, I just hope our city council isn’t swayed by corporate money and they stand behind what is the Live Music Capital of the World.

Nook was there first...and come on, it's DOWNTOWN. Of course it's loud.

Westin knew where they were building. Baseless claim.

It is ridiculous that the hotel is just now figuring this out. Sixth Street has been the party district in Austin for ages. If you didn't bother to do your research prior to building, then you need to be a good neighbor and live with the consequences. You cannot blame your irresponsibility on a business that preceded your arrival!

It breaks my heart that a big Corporation can try to push around a small business owner just to protect their bottom line. This company has hotels all over the world and the minimal losses they may see from complaining guests pales in comparison to the effect that shutting down a favored live music venue will have on the future of live music in our city. Change is inevitable but it should not be forced.

Nook was here first. Westin should have known better than to put a hotel there

It is inexcusable for a new business to build and establish themselves in the direct vicinity of the most populated area of the Live Music Capital of the World, advertise in their marketing strategies that they are conveniently located near the hottest venues, and subsequently sue their neighbors for making noise which is not only within their permitted and city approved rights by specification, as well as insult the music culture of Austin with such an action. It would be equally unacceptable for a hotel to build at an airport and she the preexisting airport for being too loud. You cannot permit a judgement in favor of the plaintiff as it sets a precedent to other industries for companies and entities to infiltrate markets and manipulate them for their own benefit. It's simply inexcusable.

It seams the Hotel has no intenition of being part of the solution but part of the problem. It Nook was there first and tryed everything to solve Holtels concernes but wonts to be a bully and put the Nook out of busness who was there first.
