Keep Austin, Austin! We're known for our music & culture, not big corporate monsters!! The citizens that actually live here - as opposed to visitors that pay zero tax money to enjoy the local lifestyle - deserve some cultural preservation. Keep it weird, keep it wild, and most importantly keep it wonderful!! :)

It is ridiculous for a small, previously established venue to bend over backwards to please, and then be sued by a massive hotel chain marketing the very thing about which they are complaining. This is pure greed and cannot be allowed to stand. If the Westin wants to profit off of the live music capital of the world, they need to work with the neighbors they chose.

The indoor ballroom plays at a louder decibel limit than the Nook plays at. Such a lawsuit is baseless and without merit. Westin should promote local culture especially as the REASON for building in that location is due to the local culture.

Music is part of the life blood of Austin, Texas. "The Live Music Capital of the World". Clearly there is going to be music. However there are still ordinances in tact that have been followed by the venue, I can say this as a patron of Nook, and as a current resident of Austin, Texas. Nook has done nothing wrong, and the Westin has shown it's true colors with how petty it can be.

This will destroy the very reason why companies like Weston Hotels built here in the first place. The culture of this city is it's greatest asset.

If you choose to buy property next to the infamous 6th street in Austin...most likely to profit from the proximity to a vibrant culture, you have no right to complain about that very culture.
Our court system has a clause requiring actions that the average intelligent person should reasonably understand. If the Westin did their due diligence about the area and still went forward with purchasing property there, it should have been their intelligent assumption that the area would stay the same once they moved in.
