The Westin has no right to complain about something that is within ordinances and has been there far before the Westin.

I think what the Westin is forgetting is that without Austin Entertainment district, its not Austin and they will loose more business. They knew about the music before building and they should embrace it with their guest and use it as a selling point, not a crutch.

The Nook is one of many Staple locations that set the culture for what downtown is. It is upsetting to know that a place like the Westin who moved here and benefits from the surroundings are willing to try and put an end to the culture that they are profitting from. In science we talk about symbiosis and the three types of relations that exists: this is a prime example of the Parasitic type.

My understanding is that for a long time now people that have worked at the front desk at the Westin have been told by management to call in noise complaints several times an hour, regardless of whether or not there are any actual customer complaints. Then there's the occasional live sex shows that happen in the large windows facing directly towards the bars and nightclubs that have existed for years prior. The Westin is not a victim, and is absolutely not trying to be a part of what makes Austin a unique and great city. They shouldn't be allowed to attack a local business simply because they decided that would be cheaper than the cost of properly insulating the building. It is a poorly run and incredibly shortsighted business, and doesn't belong here.

If you build in the entertainment district, you don't get to complain about noise. Period, the end. Build somewhere quiet. How is this hard to understand!??

I would like to counter sue the Westin for housing people that come and trash the city then fly off.
