That mascot was around when my parents went to Newton HS. Stop trying to erase history! "Braves" is a compliment, an honorary title, not a hit of racism. Get real and do something to make the world a better place.

Removing the mascot would be agreeing that it’s racist, There is nothing racist about a symbol of a BRAVE ...stop allowing a small percentage of the people to override what the majority wants.

Never a racist thought in my mind when attending Newton HS in regards to our Mascot! And I didn’t know of any classmates that demonstrated racist tendencies due to the a Mascot! The “Redskins” situation in DC is different. Using the terminology of Brave or using the name of tribes to me is not racist.

Appalling!!! The other day when I heard the NFL team was forced to change name, I thought of NHS . Whoever wants our mascot changed is indeed the person who is racist! Does this person realize how much of NJ has American Indian names? Ex.Hopatcong Lenape the list is huge! May I repeat “”American”” Indians whom we named many things after in respect to their land . So what’s next states, towns, street names, county’s?!?! How long are Americans going to let this segregation go on for? “We the People “ “America We Stand” Where did this go?!?! Can’t we stand together as a nation and support each other? Instead of starting hate & racism amongst our own? United we stand segregation we fall! UGH
