My daughter was in choir and took part in the plays and musicals. It was an extremely important part of her experience at Newman. She would not have attended Newman if it was not for these programs, I know that for a fact.

Please keep the program going! Music is super important in everyone’s life. Keeping this program alive and well will change and touch so many people and set up several students for success.

Denying students an opportunity to sing in the choir would be a significant mistake.

The music department was such a gift to so many of my closest friends and brought a creative and joyful atmosphere to campus.

The music department has been important part of my sons college experience. It would be a tremendous loss to Newman University.

Valuable employee(s) along with their programs that make a difference in the lives of the entire university community should be lauded and supported. The decision to gut Music was definitely ill-advised and short-sighted.

The entire music department Needs to stay! The amount of opportunities for graduates from college who study certain and particular areas of the liberal arts studies only seems to grow. Save the music department

Music is necessary at every school! It makes me sad that a university is trying to cut it. There are plenty of music programs that will take you under their wing if they do cut your music program

Music is a way to express feelings. It also enhances the ability to learn and retain information. Give your stude ts their best chance to succeed.

As an alum of the ESOL program, I am shocked that this was even being considered, let alone voted to happen. It’s true that music programs at universities that don’t necessarily give out music degrees also don’t bring in much revenue and therefore might appear to be a drain on school funds... BUT they are the exact opposite. They fill your students hearts with the love, sense of community, confidence, and movement of the Holy Spirit. That right there is priceless. I am also an undergrad alum of the music department at Friends and I hope that if this decision goes through, that somehow Newman students can get dual credit and participate in musical groups at Friends. Keep music in your students’ lives!

The music program at Newman University should not be cut.

Music is an integral piece of university life. In addition, the service a music program provides to the surrounding community is immeasurable. It's hard to imagine a Catholic university existing without a music program when music is an integral component of how the church relates to God. Cutting music denies Newman a foundational link to art, culture, the church, and heaven.

The board should be disgusted. What a disgrace that students and alumni have to “save” their program when it is such a huge part of Newman!

Music is a huge outlet and it engages the mind in such a unique way. I am forever thankful for the music teachers from my past and the part that music plays in my current life

This program was such a positive influence on my son Lyle. Mrs Zogleman was and still is a wonderful role model for the students. To get rid of this wonderful program is so wrong.
