Save the Newman University Music Department

Music is so important! It stimulates the brain in areas that improve math and science.

Music is so important to the development of students, you're cutting critical opportunities for many young people to succeed!!

Shame on you Newman University!

When I was at Newman the music division was where I saw many other student pursue what they love. Taking away a students choice to pursue music is a big mistake

The arts are crucial to a well-rounded person. Please look toward the future instead of the bottom line.

This is so upsetting. No music program should ever be cut.

You’re absolutely idiotic to cut a music program NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE.

I find it incredible that this program which has awesome faculty and dedicated students taking the Newman name to the public in Wichita and beyond numerous times a year is being thrown away. Music is of value in and of itself but also has applications in many other fields. Time to step back and rethink this poor decision.

This is ridiculous!

Disappointed to see this is happening at a Liberal ARTS university. If there are budget cuts to be made, surely there are other places it can come from.

Having enjoyed so many musical productions involving students, I am asking you to reconsider this decision. Students and their teachers change the world through the musical efforts of all. How special it is for young people to experience and share through all forms of music. They often find their "voice" from these experiences. Please reconsider the decision...instead consider the lives that are touched and enriched at Newman ,in our community, as well as other communities!!

Save NU Music Program!

The music department is a huge part of everyone who participates in its life. People don’t join the music department because they have to. They join it because it is so intrinsically part of who they are.

Pretty sure Newman knows that every student doesn’t want the music dept to be cut off. No matter how much more we emphasize on this, seems like Newman turns a deaf ear towards any concerns of the student if it not related directly towards the finances. Honestly after 4 years at NU, newman doesn’t care about any other majors than the science. Oh wait, let me clarify, newman only cares about the bio/ chem/ physics science majors, not the computer science or social sciences. The latter two are given so little attention regardless of multiple attempts to make their dept bigger and stronger. Newman, you’re just disappointing everyone. With this decision, we’re losing faith on you.

Build the arts, don’t tear them down! Arts create better people.

3 time Newman Alumnus! Having children of my own that have grown show much through music and theater, it would would be a HUGE deficit to lose the music department at my alma mater!

The music department has provided wonderful music and entertainment over the past few years. It would be a shame if we lost it.

Save this department! It literally made my college career and life!

This program is a major highlight of Newman University. Please do everything possible to keep this program going.
