It would be a mistake to remove one of the cornerstones of a Liberal Arts Education from Newman University. It saddens me to think the direction the university may be heading if it's arts programs are now on the chopping block.

The newman university music program and Deanne Zogleman are the only reason I ever wanted to show up for class some days. She has built a community that represents all the values of Newman U. To destroy that program is to destroy an integral part of Newman. Please reconsider.

Chorale was such a big part of my life at Newman. It's more than choir it's a family. It would a great loss to students and the university to lose the music program. Arts are being cut from schools everywhere and I never expected Newman to be one of them.

As a BSN Newman Alum, this makes me sad. Please, please keep this program alive! The arts are just as important to a university as other curriculum!

If Newman is going to do this, they should just be honest with themselves and cut all programs but medical.

I’m a NU alumni and this is incredibly disheartening to hear. Why are music and fine arts always the first programs to go?! I’ve seen schools with less than a shoe string budget keep music programs and help them flourish. It’s hard to find a way to make it work but it’s not impossible. Music is a critical aspect to the human experience. Don’t deny that to your students.

Had no part in the musical department at all and could see the impact it had for our community. I absolutely loved showing up to performances and these students made up some of my best friends. What kind of liberal arts school cuts a musical department. Some clarity would be nice

This is an outrage. Why would ANY university cut a music program. Such a disgrace to the educational system

While I went to Newman University for a different degree, I was a music major for 3 years prior to attending Newman.
Music has a very important impact on a student's life. Without music, there will be less culture, less memories of one's full college experience. Music is a huge part of history and a huge part of the church!!!!
Each student deserves to experience an entire curriculum to fully appreciate his/her college life.
Keep the arts in Liberal arts.
