Music is such am important part of our lives, especially these students! There are so many invaluable lessons learned. A University would not be the same without it!

Music is the only thing that the brain processes with both sides simultaneously. It aids learning on all platforms and helps those with special needs learn as well. The profound benefit that music has on everyone’s life is grossly overlooked. To eliminate the music department from any educational entity is a tragedy and should be strongly reconsidered.

When we forget to prioritize the preforming arts, of any media or display, we send a message they we don't care to pass along the culture, tradition, and the beauties of this world.

The music department at Newman has been the face and voice of the university for so many years. Whether it be for donors, the board, or the community, this department has been a great ambassador for the university. Getting rid of it would be an insult to every member, past and present.

Please reconsider -- this department made a life-long impact on my undergrad experience and the people are wonderful. Taking theater classes served as an outlet for me from the difficult times I experienced in the depths of my studies for five years. It would be a total shame to see this department be cut.

It is very disheartening that music is always the “go to” when cuts need to be made. Creating music and art is incredibly important. It would be a shame to witness a group of well advised people make such a poor decision. Truly disappointing. Proverbs 3:5-3:6

After instrumental music was cut I was hurt and disappointed that Newman decided to cut our program. As a renowned university we need to have a music department, especially as a liberal arts school. Without the music program, Newman will lose out on the many talents of our students.
