Cutting a music department is not just detrimental to music students, but to the community as a whole. No one should let this happen.

As a retired music educator I am dumb founded that the University would even consider that action! That is a very high quality program that is a face of Newman in the community! It is definitely a positive! The church throughout history has produced music for service and a venue to “PRAISE THE LORD”! That should not be taken away from your church based educational system!

Not everyone is an athlete. I have heard and seen musicals from the music department, fabulous! It would be so wrong to cut this department.

Alumni 2010 and sang in the chorale 2 years, did the elective of singing and guitar lessons, and Music Appreciation Theory. This was one of the best experience I had a Newman. Please keep the program, especially the choir.

My experience has been that youth find better friends, greater support, more joy in life, become more well-rounded, and just better all-around citizens when they enjoy a music and arts program. It is a travesty to deny them that opportunity!

I think any institution would be at a serious disadvantage comparably if they did not offer music opportunities for their students on campus. Especially as a religious institution with music being such a relevant part of that faith experience and extension to a greater community.

I am an adjunct music professor at Friends university. Our music program is the heartbeat at Friends. Newman needs music as a fundamental part of the college experience! Please recons cutting this essential program!

Please keep music going at Neumann. There are numerous studies showing how important music is as a subject for all ages.
Thank you.

The value of a music program is far more than the tuition dollars generated. Those students perform for public events, engage your stakeholders, and provide visibility for your University. Newman has lovely facilities already in place. Surely with some creative reorganization and prioritization the program can continue to be a valuable asset to the culture of the campus and the city of Wichita, in addition to educating its students.
