This is a Napa High Issue and the ihe County and city of Napa..This community did not go looking fro trouble but the trouble came to us.

The Wappo Indian tribe were among the first settlers in what we now call "Napa Valley". I feel our Napa High Indian is a symbol of respect to the Wappos, their culture, and significance in the history of Napa. The Napa High Indian has NEVER been depicted as violent (i.e. references to "red skins", tommy hawks, etc." It is an image of strength and determined spirit. Society has become so politically correct, it gives itself permission to "re-write history" whenever the whim strikes. I wonder if those who started this recall even live in Napa, or have any allegiance to Napa High?

I believe that the Indian symbolizes our country's and region's origins and it's importance in our history. Also, Indians are brave and peaceful by nature!

As a graduate of Napa High I have always been proud of our mascot and I find it sad that a handful of people can make such a decision. Why not let all alumni vote as to whether or not our mascot stays?
