There was no disrespect in choosing this name. Instead we have been honoring the Nappa Indians who lived here long before we came along.

Would have been class of '11 but had to move out of state, still proud to have been a Napa High Indian for two years.

The Wappo tribe is apart of the history of our land, the name is appropriate and fitting for where generation of this community grew up.
I was taught this at Westwood elementary and was proud to apart of the Napa High class of 1995 as a Napa Indian.

Being that i am native american i would be proud to see napa high keep this mascot.. this does not offend me in any way so please sign it BS that some people speak for all.. You are obviously not native american. this is an honor to see this on the school that i went to in the 1970"s . I think this should be saved,

Preserve 120 years of pride and respect. Spend the money saved on education about the local Wappo native Americans.

Sad that it's even considered. All Indian tribes should be proud. What next? What happened to the good old days when everything didn't get picked apart and ridiculed.

I have several Native American friends I have talked to about this and shown them the Indian head at the heart of this issue. They are NOT offended by it, and actually think it's kind of cool. Please don't throw out our mascot.

Lorelei Hightower -Class of 1963. I don't like the idea of 'changing' history. I think of 'Indian' as strong and the epitome of perseverance. Isn't that what school is supposed to teach? To be strong, independent and to keep going through the road blocks? Things do not stay the same forever, but we shouldn't rewrite history to suit our current beliefs.
