Save the Napa High School Indian mascot! My children grew up hoping to be Indians and could not wait until they got to Napa High School. No disrespect was ever considered by our family. I say keep the Indian mascot that has served Napa High School for generations.

I can't understand how our mascot could be taken from us without having a chance to voice our opinions. The opposition had their time, give us a chance to express our stand for our mascot!

The thought of Napa High losing its mascot so we can be politically correct makes me sick. This has been our mascot for almost a century please leave it alone. It means so much to all of us who went to school at Napa High. It's bad enough the main building is offices now you want to take the mascot away. We love it the way it is please do not do this . Changing the mascot is not going to change anyone's perception of Indians. We who want to preserve our history and traditions have respect for them ... throwing this heritage away does nothing to increase respect.

Class of 66 -- my great grand mother was a full blooded Indian and I'm am not offended by Napa's mascot. I am, in fact, proud to be called an Indian.

class of '75. no one wants the name to be changed.it's our past, our lives, we are Napa Indians. I'm proud of it. I couldn't imagine it renamed, and to what? ??? grape stompers? ?? there is no offence to Indians, as they are good, strong, and survivors. thank you for your time and consideration.

I believe we all need to have a much thicker skin. We need to preserve our precious resources for education, and not to educate our children to be ashamed of the things their parents were and remain proud of, or to be overly sensitive about the things others say, do or think. They will face far worse things in life and do not need to be distracted by such trivial pursuits. There is nothing raciest or demeaning about the term "Indian" . I am proud to be an Indian as a graduating member of the Napa High School class of 66. I fought for this symbol, as did my daughters who were school athletes, and look back on it with great pride. I am, and always will be, an Indian. If our School Board is going to spend our tax and bond money to appease a small group people seeking expensive and nonsensical change simply for change sake, or to promote a misguided sense of injustice, you can count on me to work very hard to defeat the next school bond requested by this district. No reason to provide funds for a district unwilling to use them for the good of all its students and student athletes.
