Education not eradication. Why are people wiping out all the American Indian logos and images? Is it so people will forget about them so they can take all the land back from the Indians? Stop the genocide!

If Native American tribes from the Napa area are supported of the Napa High School mascot why is this an issue. I'm concerned with the group that is providing technical advice to the Napa Unified School District staff as they are not speaking for the local tribes as has been stated by the Wappo Tribal Chief. Input is definately needed from him.

Ok, start with the Napa High Indians, but don't stop there.
As a half-blooded Norwegian, I'm disgusted with the use of the Vikings by the Minnesota football team. And what's up with the San Diego Padres and the Stanford Cardinal—how can you denigrate deeply religious people who dedicate their lives to helping others. And the Chicago Black Hawks disgrace honorable African Americans who believe in a strong military. And the Alabama Crimson Tide...we all know that name is in reference to the bloody waters and beaches of Normandy on D-Day...their ultimate sacrifices should not be taken so lightly as to name a football team after them. Have to get rid of the Knights for the sake of all American's of English decent...whether royal or not. How about Spartans and Trojans? Our Greek and Italian neighbors have harbored their anger and hurt long enough. Lastly (but assuredly not finally) are the Reds. Just because most American's disagree with communists, there's no need to disrespect them by turning them into a sports mascot.
As you can see, you guys have a not of "do gooding" to do. Banishing the Napa Indians is just the tip of the iceberg for you. Good luck and God speed.

I am proud of my Native American heritage. To me the image of an Indian Brave represents, bravery,leadership, perseverance and a sense of community and family. In my opinion the only thing that should be removed is the term mascot, WE ARE THE NAPA INDIANS! (60)

STOP this madness!!!..this has been our logo for over 120 yrs. and now some outsider wants to change this..We have alot of Native American Indians that went to Napa High..and it has never offended anyone..if people get off the PC train and leave history alone. Being Part American Indian I am proud as you should be and true Indians are.!!!!.study the history!!! Sad to say it's the new generation that wants to stir up BS..like wanting to change the football team name REDSKINS..shame on them.

As a majorette for the Napa High Band, part of our uniform was a Native American head-dress. We wore these with pride, honoring the spirit of courage, dignity and perseverance of all Native peoples. Let Napa High School keep this mascot and all that it represents.

believe we need to all learn we are the product of History and it is time to recognize it is up to New Americans to assume the role of bringing our country together as one. Including recognition of the sacrifices we all have made that has absolutely no comparison to our brothers and sisters of the Native Americans. I believe a mascot brings the spirit, tenacity, honor and true spirit of the school and team. How can you possible find any mascot greater than the Wappo?

As a 1960 graduate from Napa High School, and the third of four Burke's to do so, I strongly oppose this name change. Our Indian Mascot was so respected and honored that if one were to step on the tiled replica in the hallway they were made to scrub it with a toothbrush.
