This mascot has bred around for decades. It doesn't need to be changed based on hurt feelings, this is getting ridiculous

I have Native American Indian in my blood and I was always proud as 7 generations Napa County Resident to be an Indian, 3rd Generation NHS, Thomas Gomez54, Donald Albert Gomez68, John Gomez 88 and Soon one of the best athletes the school will see, my son Sam Gomez. Thanks for the time!

I am so proud to know that the land I was born on and the land near Napa Creek, where I was raised, was formerly inhabited by Indians. We searched and found lots of obsidian arrowheads and understood that we were now living where they had lived before us. The idea that if I studied hard I would become a successful Redwood Jr. High “Warrior”, a Napa High “Indian” and then a Napa College “Chief” was exciting to me and represented a connection to the land and its early inhabitants. The American Indians came to the Western Hemisphere about 20,000 years ago and made a difference that I am proud of. Oh my goodness, removal of that “Indian” logo would be sad beyond belief especially since we have already lost the others for no reasonable reason.

I am a graduate from the class of 2016 and the 4th generation in my family to be a Napa High Indian. Do not take away our heritage and identity that has thrived for the past 120 years. We are Indians!

As a registered Indian, I am sad to even think that a tradition for over 120 years would be eliminated. The Indian culture thrives on traditions and knowledge from their ancestors. Please continue that here at Napa High and keep the Indian mascot.

Dont allow a small minority to make changes for a vast majority! Not to mention the cost to make a change would be a ridiculous & stupid decision.

Attending and graduating as a Napa High Indian will always remain as a high point of pride in my life. I thought of our mascot as a symbol of honor and perseverance, so I'm absolutely floored by this. How is this disrespectful?

I just can't understand why this is even happening. I can tell you that back when I was attending Napa High school every student in that school was proud to be a "Napa Indian" we wore the colors with pride. We were also Honored and proud of our Mascot. The Napa High Indian Mascot is and has always been more than just a Logo like whatever group that is supposably behind this is trying to make it out to sound like. The Indian Mascot has always been and will always be the Spirit of all students, teachers, teachers aid's and faculty members that have come before us and after us. I pray it will continue. Hey we're not all politically correct, I know I'm not, but the fact that my late father and grandparents were born Chickasaw Indian and were part of the Chickasaw Nation. Growing up between Chickasha Oklahoma and Napa California I was never told I had to be politically correct. Just Respectful. I believe we've been beyond respectful. So please think this thru and don't take away something that is and always will be a part of so many of us and so many more. Think about the generations of families grandparents, Parents their children and grandchildren that were proud to be NAPA Indians. That's honestly who I feel for the most. way more than my own self! Those families and all my former classmates and Napa Indian teammates is the reason why I'm telling you all my thoughts on this hole matter.

Pretty sure this came up years ago and in the end the "Indians" won . . . . I'm proud to be a Napa High Indian Alumni and also proud to have Indian heritage. Spend what's left of the districts $$ on saving programs for the kids.
