I used to go to Mt Hope one of the many things that made Mt hope unique was its performing arts programs.

It would be a crime to take this from the students...As a performer myself I can tell you that the skills a student learns being on stage or behind the curtain is immeasurable. The family bond created being part of a theater company, life long friends who become family and the memories created on stage is something never forgotten. I am 45 years old and remember everything and every person I have been fortunate enough to meet since high school by being part of a theater company. There are no words I can give you to express what a bad decision it would be to take this away at Mt Hope. Please please do not do this!!

The arts should never be subject to programs cuts. I love sports, but every single sport should be removed prior to art programs. There is scientific evidence showing music/theater/etc. greatly improve education. It's hard to believe the district is so strapped for cash that this is even a conversation. Either solves the money mismanagement or raise taxes/allocate more taxes to education.

It is truly appalling how often theater comes up on the chopping block, and the Mount Hope theater program is truly exceptional. There is no excuse for threatening the program's demise to save money, especially when it's one of the school's best features.

I tell all the business students I mentor to take acting to gain confidence and control of your voice, body and understand audience. This is a HUGE loss!!!!

The Mt. Hope Masqueraders was what helped make my high school experience positive. Theatre helped me build a work ethic and so many other skills. I met my closest friends through theatre in a time when I was so vulnerable. I truly hope that future classes at Mt. Hope will be able to gain the experience I did.

cutting peoples jobs is not the answer. What about the Covid emergency fund? This makes no sense. Haven't these teachers and students been through enough? I want to see the School Comittee meeting on Monday. Save Mendello
