Theater (and all arts) are essential for development of all persons especially high school. It gives people confidence in speaking to large groups. It challenges your thinking and theirs. Theater was the best thing for my son, Dillon Medina, when he attended Mt Hope. It completely changed him and made him into the wonderful man that he is today .

Masqueraders was part of my life during a time it was at its worse. My mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, and I needed something to keep me from breaking down. Theatre was that outlet for me. To me theatre is a necessity, because without it, those who were the odd ones in, the outcasts, would not have anywhere to help them grow and feel accepted. The Masqueraders were my family. Don't take that family away please..

The arts are one of the last lines of connection today's teens have. There are important life skills for all students involved in theater: performance, communication, design, marketing, teamwork, inter-personal relationships, fundraising, project management and so much more. Teen suicide rates are growing. Don't take away every last drop of hope they have. Give them a chance to connect, to learn valuable skills, to have fun, to experience the rewards of hard work, and to build the confidence they will need in the world.

The Arts are an important part of a child’s life. It helps them with public speaking, confidence, finding who they are and as a way to express themselves. It is integral that they stay running. Being a music director at Joseph Case High School since 2013, under the late Thomas Marcello and now my brother - Neil Jeronimo - it is so amazing to see the growth and happiness in each student.

Being part of the Masqueraders were some of the fondest memories I had at Mt. Hope. Some students who were masqueraders continued on and followed their dreams to Hollywood be it acting, writing or producing. It would be a terrible to lose the program.

The fact that there’s a petition to save the theatre department is disappointing. Let these kids create and grow their artistry. Bristol is beautiful, hurting the arts will cause too much bad blood in the community
