while i didnt go here, theatre was a big part of my high school life and taking it away is taking away someones passion

Theatre is more than an art form. As cheesy as it sounds, theatre saves lives. Why would you take away something that so many students lean on as support? The movies you watch, the tv shows you binge, and the plays you view, are all products of these high school theatre departments. The future, greatest stars could be in the hands of your school. We are the future, your students are the future. Please, let theatre live, and let the students breathe and create their dream. Thank you

If these covid times have taught us anything, it should be how valuable the arts are to us and how much they enrich our lives. We were so much poorer with them taken away. Theater allows students to explore and confront different parts of their emotions and to develop empathy for people they might never otherwise understand. Don’t balance the budget on the backs of the arts department. There must be other ways to trim all areas rather than to cut an entire department.

The arts are the very fabric of our society and should be upheld and fostered with every resource we have available.
Theater and the arts are so important to high school students, especially those who need the creative outlet...you wouldn’t cut sports, why cut the arts?

As the Masqueraders stage manager from 2003-2005 my heart is broken over the idea that they are trying to cut the drama department. Theatre is a place where everyone is accepted, there is a place or department for all. So many kids struggle with acceptance and Theatre Arts is a way for kids to express themselves. I would have been a very depressed teenager without the Mt. Hope Masqueraders!!

as someone who was part of the masqueraders all throughout middle school, it would tear me apart to hear that the high school masqueraders got cut. theatre is a wonderful experience, and it can help people mold their futures, and really set up a path towards an amazing career opportunity. even after middle school i've continued acting, and its something that really sticks with someone for life. so from the bottom of my heart, please reconsider your choice.

Both my brother and I are products of the Arts program of this school district. A well rounded education requires these things. They are not optional, in fact Arts are a graduation requirement. For some they seem frivolous because they are the for R's of education. However, without them we are culturally poorer, and there are student who will disengage entirely from the school experience without the refuge these programs provide. If you remove them, you will have killed the soul of education, and inadvertently caused anxiety, depression, and possibly death to a whole population at you school. Your school will be made lesser for that loss, and the Bristol/Warren School district will continue its apparent descent into corporate education. The students needs are more important than the budget, those students and their education is the only currency that actually matters.

The arts are a fundamental part of being human. All students should have the opportunity to participate in the arts. In the arts, students learn necessary life skills: teamwork, communication, discipline, humility, courtesy, problem-solving, critical thinking, resilience, and leadership. For the student, the arts are fundamental to their growth in becoming a member of society.
