I watched a phenomenal performance tonight (4/29) of SpongeBob the Musical and then learned that this program is being cut. I am shocked and disgusted that students are not being put #1 over pennies. What I witnessed tonight was nothing less than an incredible performance that obviously has a strong group of 40+ students working hard and making our world better. Shame on ANYONE that pushes penny saving over student achievement.

So many artists of various sorts have come from this program. It would be a travesty to stop generations from continuing in their gifts.

The arts are a vital part of learning experiences for all students. It’s imperative that your district protects all opportunities for your students to be creative, collaborate, have a voice and explore their passions.

Arts in schools are incredibly important. Sports are not for everyone. Arts create community, emotional release, and so much more. They teach problem solving, out of the box thinking, work ethic, composure, public speaking, promote physical activity, I could go on. Kids need the arts in schools. Please don’t take that away.

As a recent university graduate with a B.A. in theatre, who grew up surrounded by theatre at the community level, I have seen the immense worth and impact of theatre on students, artists and not. There are so many skills to be gained through it. Empathy, creative thinking and problem solving, social skills, even technical experience. Each of these skills has transfered to other aspects of my life outside the industry. Do not take this experience away from these students.

As a fellow high school thespian, I would be devastated if our theatre program got cut, especially one of such talent that is Mount Hope. ❤️

Please reconsider! The theater is a safe place for teens to express themselves. It provides a space and place for students to belong. It's not just about acting, it's about discipline and developing some grit to see projects through until the end. Theater teaches lifelong communication skills.

Theatre is looked down upon by so many, but teaches kids so many important skills about social interaction and the ways we should treat each other

The arts are an integral part of students’ development. It allows students an outlet for their creativity while also teaching valuable life skills they will absolutely take with them and apply once they leave school. Please do not take this important resource away from your students .
