I went to kindergarten at MHS and would hate to see it demo'd. That building holds many fond memories for me and I hope that it is given a new purpose and new memories.

Absolutely part of the history of Middle Haddam...if the town let's it go, it will be lost forever! Disappointed that nothing has been done to date...it is an impressive building that could serve a variety of uses.

I am an experienced builder and after my inspection of the Old School House I find that the foundation and brick walls are in remarkably good condition - no settlement or cracking. You have a good piece of land in a good location - a well, septic and a solid frame to work with. I believe that if the building is torn down the land would be sold to a developer. It would be all about money and not about history. Please save this building!

What a tremendous loss to our visual landscape--the architectural grace and country grandeur of a bygone era that allows us to better understand who we are today.
The demolition of this wonderful Colonial Revival Schoolhouse in a historic district steeped in local memory should be unthinkable.
With grant money available from The Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation, the town should get creative, and welcome this opportunity to create a vibrant community space for all to enjoy.
Preserving this rare little beauty is a way to feel proud of yourselves as a town, to say “we did the right thing” and now our kids can grow up here with a sense of place that digs back beyond the walls of the next local CVS.

As a former student and a Town Council member I will do all I can to make sure this beautiful building does not get destroyed! Please sign and SHOW Up at Town Council meetings. Tell them why we need to save!

I also have great memories of my years here. Each time I've been back to the area, I stop by - and wonder how it could be used again. To hear that it is structurally sound is so encouraging; please bring it back to serve the community again.

Many memories of walking to school and the playground. Returned home 15 years ago to be so sad at the condition. I showed my now husband and even he could see the beauty of the structure and loved hearing my memories of attending this little schoolhouse with many of my extended family members and even one (that I remember) teach their. Please restore the wntire property...maybe make it a library with meeting rooms for local clubs, youth groups, theatre/movies and community needs. It would be a outstanding facility that could be utilized in so many ways.

Some of the best memories of my life originated in and around this Building. I attended Grades 1-4 there. From Boy Scouts on Tue nights in the Gym to Flying Kites in the School Yard to Dancing around the May Pole. Including fond memories of walking down to the Library and pushing the Cross Walk Button on 151. This sacred building is where I learned to 'Duck and Cover' during the Cold War, little did I know that it would be a Tactic I might need to use over half a Century later! For once make the right decision, why destroy a sound structure?
