The owner has the right to do what he wants with this property, BUT... I feel that public opinion has made it clear what it wants to support. Sounds like a "no brainer" to me.

The Melting Pot is one of my favorite places to eat, both for its amazing food and its unique atmosphere… The Melting Pot is an upscale, romantic Ocala tradition… a BBQ joint… no matter how "up-market" will simply pale in comparison to The Melting Pot. I have very fond memories of looking out at the warm glow Christmas lights on the square, the aromatic smell of coq au vin filling the table, family and friends all around in an hours long celebration of unique fine dining… It will be hard to imagine that quickly chowing down on "Texas hot links" or "the whole hawg" will come even remotely close. Additionally, there is a plethora of other BBQ places in Ocala to eat at that will likely be more accessible (better parking) and less expensive. Moreover, the BBQ joint, albeit according to rumor, will likely have an extremely similar name and theme as another well established Ocala tradition, The Mojo Grill, thereby further harming the local restaurant industry. Please renew The Melting Pot's lease… it just simply makes more sense… it helps a vibrant, flourishing local business that many people have strong emotional ties to… Forcing an epicurean treasure like The Melting Pot to be replaced against their will by a BBQ joint is a poor business choice. Why not build a free standing structure with ample parking like all of Ocala's other numerous BBQ establishments? Are people really going to find parking downtown to get a quick bite to eat at a BBQ joint? I think not, especially when you consider how upset people are about this situation. There are few locations in Ocala as special as our square. Therefore, placing an out-of-town BBQ joint there would truly squander the location and hurt our hardworking local restraunteurs.

This restaurant is a very important part of the square. It is an upscale place in an upscale area of our town. Bbq places just don't to seem to fit in this part of Ocala.

PLEASE LET THEM STAY!!! This is my all time favorite restaurant. We eat there 5-6 times a year. It's a different atmosphere and not the typical food that your regular chain food places have and you get to get dressed up! Too many other places are, "As long as you are wearing something, you are in!" I was so excited to hear it was coming to Ocala and that I no longer had to drive to Gainesville. I'm over the whole bbq place on every corner.
