I also have a child that is currentley in the Boston Public School system. He has been at the tynan elematary since k2. Its a great school with EXCELENT staff ! They need help from the city with funding for upadtes with tge building and more teachers!!!! He is transitioning from grade 5 to six, since hearing about the closures it has been very upsetting we will now be HOMESCHOOLING. It is very unfortunate mixing middle school children (teenager) and highschool children (young adults) most teenagers just entering middle school still havent been rxposed to thibgs like sex, drugs, alchol, gangs ect. Mixing them with young adults we are pre exposing them.

I'm a BPS parent and I'm appalled by the decision to close the McCormack. When will the community get answers that explains this closure, what is the rationale around the emergency/abrupt closing and how do you explain the decision to simply shift McCormack students to a school which is clearly facing significant challenges and does not offer the programming students from he McCormack need? How can you guarantee us that you're making decisions that prioritize all students?

We have built a wonderful community of staff and students here! Supportive restorative justice practices leading the way in the district with design planning and thinking in mind with our new schedule that includes school-wide recess and implementation of Design practices school wide. There’s a lot going on here! Please support us staying together.

I am a BPS parent. It is beyond unacceptable that BuildBPS failed to consider the needs and well-being of the students at the McCormack Middle School, West Roxbury Academy and Urban science Academy. These plans were made without input from the stakeholders—the students, families, teachers and administrators. BPS has lost our trust, and the city council and school committee should put an immediate halt to these plans. Real solutions exist—listen to the students and their support teams.

Oh my god I went to this school and Graduated in 1990 this school was very good to me. I won in the History fair and also 1st places on the Spelling Bee contest its a shame they want to dew this to the school.

BPS Parent: A core value of BuildBPS should be ‘do no harm’. Closing McCormack has the opposite effect. Pulling the rug out from under these kids with no clear reason. Outrageous.

School changes are fine if the school community wants them. In this case the school does not want the change being proposed. Luckily this can't happen unless the school committee and city council sign off on this. I would recommend that BPS hold off on changes unless school communities welcome them. Trust is hugely lacking right now and respecting a school communites wishes is a good place to start in regaining trust.

What is the LONG TERM plan for the city when our youth begin to get displaced? It seems as though Housing is increasing while schools are decreasing. PLEASE HELP SAVE OUR YOUTH AND HARD WORKING EDUCATORS.
