I have had so many wonderful memories marching with the Wildcats! Especially marching under the direction of Mr. Dan Balog and Mr. Jeff Gorman. It will be very sad if these two teachers will leave the program that they have worked so hard to build up and bring a good reputation back to Riley High School. I hope this petition works and shows that they shouldn't leave.

My Daughter marched & performed with the Color Guard. Mr. Gorman and Mr. Balog are THE BEST AROUND. I know nothing about Ms. Howard, but if Mr. Gorman & Mr. Balog would refuse to work with her, this is a thought that should NOT be ignored. The Marching Band is for the students & it is a very worthy endeavor .... please do not fail the Marching Wildcats!

This is the best band in South Bend and we need to keep this alive. Been playing music after my high school years and I wouldn't have had music a part of my life without this fantastic group.

I remember, fondly, of our marching band...the school spirit it invoked. Please reconsider...I'm sure a lot of us would do anything to see it stay.

Mr.Balog and Mr.Gorman kept band class fun. They know how to run the band and teach the classes. And they are great Teachers and people. Why change a tradition after so many years. I remember multiple times we would have to let Mrs.Howard's kids in her class since she wasn't on time.

that would be devastating to lose this awesome program!! My son and I were part of that band for four years and it was an awesome experience. Mr. Balog and Mr. Gorman are great band directors and the kids love them both.

This band is what hold the school together! Without the band where's the hype for football games, basketball games, etc? Mr. Balog and Mr. Gorman are the sole reason we have gotten gold the last 12 years! Without them nothing would be the same. Without the band the school is nothing but BORING and DULL! Band is what is exciting and fun! Plus its a Great activity to keep kids safe during and after school. The whole reason I wanted to go to school in the morning was because band.

I was not impressed by her orchestral skills (her specialty) at Greene Intermediate. I would hate for my son to quit the band for any reason especially this one. In my opinion Mr. Gorman and Mr. Balogh can manage without any interference from a outsider. (Non band) #Proudmotherofatubaplayer!!

I have been a band parent for the last 7yrs and don't want to see the band fall apart. All the kids are wonderful one big family. They have done great things and I'm proud to say I'm a band parent and would love to see my 3rd daughter enjoy the Riley current band experience just like her sister have. Please save the pride of the south side!!!

I started orchestra with Mrs. Howard my freshman year. Previously I had been in the Adams' school district so had no experience with her before that time. I started my freshman year with at least 10-15 other people in my class in the orchestra. By the time I was a senior, I was the only person left out of everyone who started orchestra with me. I only stayed because I loved playing my instrument so much, and not because of Mrs. Howard. She was frequently late and disorganized. Anyone who had her can attest to those facts. She let the kids in my class do just about whatever they wanted if they were disinterested enough and did not do much to rectify the problem. We did well at ISSMA but she is no string player. She played like a fourth grader, and I know because I've seen it. She embarrassed us many times during concerts by jumping up and down on stage. I was individually embarrassed once at Pasta and Pops in front of over a hundred people due to something she did. I worked with Mr. Gorman and Mr. Balog briefly when the band and orchestra were doing a few pieces together. They have everything very together, and I actually learned something while I was in their classroom. It was refreshing from the experience I had in orchestra class. I sincerely wish I'd had a better teacher because maybe I could've pursued music in university with the proper support. Now, Mrs. Howard is a good person, but she is not a great teacher. Not by a long shot. She needs an entire overhaul of her teaching methods which are lacking entirely. I think it would be too much for her to handle to take over marching band when she can hardly conduct the orchestra the way it deserves to be conducted. It would be a mistake to give her that kind of responsibility. I am sorry to even have to say it, but I lived it for four years.
