Although these trees are damaging the parking lots, they make the park a cooler oasis during hot weather. We often picnic in the shade of these trees and there are always many other residents enjoying the shade too. It’s such a beautiful and comfortable park … as long as the trees remain. a hui hou

Save our Mahogany trees in the Honoka'a County park. They provide much needed shade for those watching sports as well as folks just wanting to relax and enjoy the park.

Please don't turn this park into a desert, and consider other options. I see the pavement damage yet believe there are other options besides total removal. There is nowhere else shady to park a car or sit under a picnic table in Honokaʻa. Please don't take that away!

We have to stop cutting trees down for “liability” reasons. Let’s face it, all trees are Liabilities, are we going to every tree down. Trees provide valuable shade, add beauty to a space, habitat for birds. The community here in Kohala stopped the cutting down of the old monkey pod trees at kamehameha park.

Repairs to restrooms & bleachers seem to be more of a priority to our community than the damaged parking lot. We also love the trees and shade to enjoy throughout the park. Please listen to the community. Mahalo!

What else they tryna take away from us???
A lot of locals can't even afford to buy and build where they're from because of how the market is.
Some people have work two full time jobs just to afford and be able to provide for their families and sometimes no matter what we say or do they do what they want anyway.
Super unfair but we all just need to put our focus on things above.

Eliminating mature trees should not be the go to resolution.
