We love this park and take our kids here often. The trees provide necessary shade!

To me, what makes a park a place to be, are the trees. They give the promise of refuge and relief from the sun on a hot day. They provide comfort and welcome to the spirit. The damage to the parking lot is something that should have been thought about when they were planted. It’s too late now to kill them over human error. Make do. It’s not hurting anyone but cutting them down would.

I love walking under those trees while I’m on a jog, they add a lot of beauty to the complex.

Growing up I spent many years under those trees at the park, after school waiting in the shade for my dad to finish work at the infirmary, exploring their roots, collecting their flowers, watching the birds, bees and butterflies visiting them from around the park. Many areas in the park are much less used due to the lack of shade, and it seems folks would really appreciate it if the county could pause and work on some alternatives for the community, perhaps while other trees are planted and in the growing phase if these absolutely need to be cut sometime? We super appreciate this wonderful service both the county and these trees provide for our community, we are so lucky to live here, thanks for making it such a wonderful place.

Shade, environmental benefits, beauty, cultural heritage. All good reasons to leave the trees in place.

The destruction of these trees cannot be undone. The park will be forever changed, and not in a good way. Please consider the points mad in this petition.

Trees are very important to our environment. Why destroy something that is important for our community. Keep the trees.

These trees are a staple of Honoka’a park and have been around for a very long time. They define the park and provide adequate shade for the community.

Please keep and maintain these trees for as long as they remain healthy and are not in danger of sudden collapse.
